The artist name "Ddingddong" (띵똥) comes from the sound of a doorbell, which rings when a much-awaited gift arrives. Just as a doorbell announces the arrival of a gift, this name expresses the wish to bring a touch of cuteness and small joys to your everyday life.
I am an artist who creates characters and gently illustrates the emotions and daily lives of introverted people. My main character, "The Shy Cat" (소심한고양이), tells the stories of clumsy yet deeply affectionate cats.
Feelings that are not always easy to express in words, moments when one needs to be alone, and the small joys discovered throughout an ordinary day are delicately depicted through these little cats.
The cats in my creations are distinguished by their simple and rounded shapes, as well as their understated expressions. To allow everyone to freely project their own emotions and stories into the illustrations, I deliberately removed the mouth, nose, and whiskers, thereby leaving significant room for emptiness and imagination.
Through my illustrations, I hope to bring a little comfort and a smile to sometimes tiring days, and to create works that convey warm attention to oneself and to those we cherish.
Today, I am expanding the world of "The Shy Cat" into various forms, ranging from stationery items such as stickers and masking tapes, to plush toys and everyday objects.
